Making it easy for people to find and interact with your business is key to its growth. We have found three new opportunities for our clients to reduce visitor frustrations when using a mobile device to view websites, keep the call to action prominent, and help people locate their companies. These resources also have the potential to increase Google rankings and click-throughs, which is why we have incorporated them into the Digital Marketing Master Plan & Audit.

Accelerated Mobile Platform (AMP)

Google partnered with developers to create a platform for websites viewed on any type of mobile device. In essence, when a website is AMP coded, Google captures and stores that code in their system, which allows it to almost immediately serve the page directly from the search results. Although this has been around for a while, it’s becoming more prevalent. In fact, 31 million domains use AMP today compared to only 1 million AMP domains two years ago.

At EyeQuest Digital, we’ve added AMP to the Digital Marketing Master Plan for two key reasons:

  1. We noticed a definitive improvement in rankings and performance for our customers who are using it; and
  2. Google is now using mobile-first indexing, which means that any improvement in the mobile performance of a website now has the potential to elevate performance on the desktop results and Google Maps.

Mobile Static Header

Over half of web searches take place on a phone, and more business realize that a mobile website is necessary to stay competitive. Today, most websites are mobile responsive. This means that someone viewing the page on a mobile device will see nearly the same thing as someone using a desktop computer, although the information has been restructured and rearranged for vertical rather than horizontal viewing. The site looks great on a mobile device but often the call to action is lost. This happens because viewers must scroll down through the site to see the content and then need to scroll back to the top to find the contact information.

This is where the Mobile Static Header comes into play. This header remains at the top of the screen regardless of how far down a viewer has scrolled. Now the call to action, whether it’s “Call us” or “Find Our Store,” is always visible, which increases the likelihood that site visitors will take action.

Geotagging Images

Geotagging is a process that embeds location-specific data into your website, most commonly by adding the information to photos or images. Doing this helps Google make the connection between the image and a physical location. With geotagging:

  • Google can make the connection between your image and a specific location, which means that it is more likely to be presented as an option to someone looking for a local business in your area.
  • You can increase your Search Engine Confidence Score. It confirms that your business has a physical location, which helps your scores.
  • Your site ranking may increase. Some users conduct an image search instead of a topic search, and by having geotagged images on your site, you are more likely to be included in the search results.
  • You can add more metadata. Metadata is what Google and other search engines use to determine ranking and results. With each image, you can add several types of metadata in addition to geotagging and every piece of metadata helps.

We will be incorporating these features into your master digital marketing plan and utilizing them to boost your Google rankings and increase your customer engagement.
